All of the Information on LED Wall Part 2

Last week we gave you the first three of seven things to know about LED wall. Here are the last four!
There's lots more to know about LED wall, but hopefully these seven points will give you a start into knowing more. If you are looking to add LED wall to your system, and want to know more, schedule a Site Spec with us so we can talk you through all the details of having LED.

A positive aspect that draws many people to LED wall is the fact that if a pixel or even a whole panel goes out, it will be the only panel affected in your display. Small panel replacement means you can continue to use the rest of your wall while you are waiting for the fix or replacement. It might sound terrible to have a black square or glitched spot in the middle of your display, but most people find this to be a better alternative to a projections system that breaks and cannot be used at all.

Five.

With all displays, light is a big factor. In classrooms and conference rooms we must make sure light will not glare off a screen for a presentation. On a stage we must make sure the ambient lights don’t affect what’s intended to be seen. A business here in town has a large room with floor to ceiling windows across at least half the room. As you can imagine, the view is wonderful, but the natural lighting was very bright causing conflict on their projection screen. We installed an LED wall in its place, it won’t matter how sunny the day is, their team will still be able to use the room for their functions. The light source coming from the new LED wall is far brighter than a projection system as light emits directly from the LED’s towards the audience and the led wall itself does not reflect other light from the room.

LED panels require processing. A projector is easy to plug in and start using, but LED requires a processor to split your visual data up across panels and is an additional cost. There are many different processors and they all fill different needs and features. Some are made to handle different sizes and pixel pitches of LED walls. Lambda can help you pick the one that best fits your needs and help ensure your LED wall is fully processed and ready to go.

Seven.

Contrast ratio is probably the most important when considering if you want to invest in LED wall. Contrast ratio is the difference between the lightest thing and the darkest thing on the screen. Most projection screens are white to reflect light and since a projector cannot project the color black, as black is the absence of light, you start out already with less contrast ratio. If you look at a tv or computer monitor you will notice it starts out black and this helps with clarity and accuracy of color. This can explain many times why the color of a logo you build on your computer doesn’t match what’s on the screen when projected. Laser projectors and increased lumens can help this, but LED wall gets much closer since it also starts from black.

All in all, it’s easy to see why the industry loves LED walls. They are bright, flexible and will last a long time. We are all for LED walls, but sometimes it’s not the right option. If you aren’t sure, but want to know more, contact our team for an evaluation! We love to help you find the best solution for your space!
