And getting the most from your equipmentIt’s Christmas planning season and many of our friends and customers have found themselves in a different place with their technology than they had ever dreamed they would be. Where many people had planned on making small upgrades this year, they instead found themselves making entire changes to how they go about working with or reaching people. Some of our customers are still waiting, months later, for their system upgrades to come in stock. If anyone waited just a few weeks after the first COVID-19 challenges to make large video system improvements, there was already a massive delay in the industry. Normally, this time of year we encourage everyone to finalize their Christmas upgrade plans and ideas so we can get items ordered, but most have either already ordered or video equipment is so backordered into next year there may not be an opportunity, even now, to get the project done. So, where do we start in this new world as we go into the Christmas season? Especially, for churches with production on the horizon? The crew at Lambda would like to suggest two areas to focus on: training and lighting.

With the unexpected rise and spread of Covid19, it quickly created new problems for everyone. The Navigators ministry was faced with the task of taking their numerous in person conferences and converting them all into virtual online conferences. Lambda AV designed a compact streaming system that would allow them to have a multi-camera live stream of all the keynote speakers. It also had the ability to run a full graphics system while being set up virtually anywhere.
The Summit Church upgrade covered Audio, Video, Lighting and general stage design. It was a big project for Lambda, so after the initial design and approval to move forward by the church, Lambda decided to approach the install in stages. We were able to add the equipment in a logical order over the course of two months. We did this for several reasons.
It took a lot of planning and time to build and integrate the updates to Summit, but everyone involved couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out!
We like to share a lot of case studies based on installs we complete at Lambda. We share them because we realize many of our customers are interested in ideas about what others are doing. They want to see new and cool ideas or innovative solutions being practically implemented in spaces like theirs. With churches these case studies are typically about new gear or new ways of using gear, however, with the race for live-streaming during the COVID-19 pandemic, we noticed other helpful information people were looking for were ideas on teaching, coaching, processes, and best practices. So, we welcome you to Lambda Teams case studies where we share conversations and ideas not centered around gear, but around great ideas and conversations had with teams.

You might be wondering why it’s an important decision to add a broadcast room. Do you really need it or does it just add another layer of complexity? A Broadcast room allows for multiple people such as your Producer, Director/Switcher, Camera Shader, broadcast Audio Engineer, etc. to all be in one room and easily communicate with each other. Creating noise or talking is no longer is an issue like it would be if you had all these people at FOH. The broadcast room also uses two Danley cube speakers and a nano sub for live audio monitoring.
