Announcing the Blackmagic Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G, a bi directional SDI to optical fiber converter that lets customers extend SDI connections over long distances. Blackmagic Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G extends SDI connections over long distances by converting SDI to optical fiber and optical fiber to SDI in both directions at the same time. Using the Blackmagic Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G is an affordable way to increase camera coverage at live events because it lets broadcasters place cameras large distances away from their switchers, routers, and decks using optical fiber cable. Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G features a standard SFP type socket allowing us to use our favorite Fieldcast 12g transceiver. It works with the same of low cost optical fiber cables that are commonly used for computer networks. This type of optical fiber cable can be run much longer distances and is much more affordable than copper SDI cable. “The Blackmagic Mini Converter Optical 12G is exciting because it gives customers an incredibly reliable and cost effective way to extend their SDI connections,” said Grant Petty, CEO, Blackmagic Design. “Now it’s possible to connect equipment such as remote cameras to decks and switchers up to 10 miles away plus it’s a true 12G-SDI design so it’s ready for the future. Best of all, it works in both directions so you can convert different SD, HD or Ultra HD video standards in each direction. It’s like getting two converters in one!” Blackmagic Mini Converters are part of a large family of professional broadcast converters. We love to use these converters and have mentioned several before, such as the Teranex. These can make a big difference in your system and the quality of function. We’ve recently made several orders of an item from FieldCast and wanted to highlight it as it’s been so popular. We use this a lot! What is this popular little item? It is the FieldCast 12G optical transceiver!
So, what does it do? The optical transceiver can work in either direction as a transmitter or receiver. It is compatible with a wide range of optical fiber video equipment, such as our favorite BlackMagic items. We like to use these with the BlackMagic Mini SDI to Fiver Converters. It fits inside a special SFP slot on the converter. If you didn’t already know, high quality 4k video has trouble going long distances, so this box, plus the SDI to Fiber Converter work together to convert a signal that would normally go over SDI cable only a short distance, because of copper, to go a long distance over fiber optic cabling. If you’d like more information about sending video signals you can contact us at any time! Incorporating Dugan’s proprietary voice-activated process, the Waves Dugan Automixer plugin automatically controls the gains of multiple microphones in real time, dramatically reducing feedback, studio noise and comb filtering from adjacent microphones. It maintains a consistent system gain, even when multiple speakers are talking simultaneously, and makes perfectly matched crossfades, without any signal compression, and without a noise gate that may cause unwanted sonic artifacts. Available for virtually any console, the Dugan Automixer is the ultimate solution for broadcast news panels, talk shows, houses of worship, film and television dialog recording, and any other discussion panel or conference scenario involving multiple microphones and participants.
