Audio Visual Safety tips for the Workplace and on the Job

We talk a lot about equipping yourself with knowledge about your equipment, but we have not yet highlighted the importance of safety with and around Audio Visual.

Right about now you’re probably wondering what kind of safety would be needed around audio visual equipment. Everything can be dangerous in the right situation. Just like it’s dangerous to leave Ryan alone with ice cream, we want to help remind you of ways you can make sure your area is safe for anyone who comes around.

Here’s a checklist we’ve put together for you, so you can easily walk around your business and make sure everything is being used in a safe way for you and your equipment:

On the Job

When we request a room to be “empty” (of people, not necessarily furniture unless specifically requested) there is a reason! We implement a strict “Behind the Line” policy. If Lambda has the use of a lift or is doing any kind of rigging in a room, anything that might fall is a liability to us. ​

Rigging needs to be a careful process. When you add mounting speakers, there is another danger factor. There could be serious injury or death from a falling speaker or a steel mounting bar. So, first, if you are having equipment installed and we ask that the room is evacuated for a certain amount of time, it’s very important that no one is allowed in the room.

​Second, if you see the need to move any equipment, especially ceiling mounted, be sure you have our professional team do the job! Not only are we certified and insured, but you want to make sure that equipment is mounted properly so there is no slippage when it’s being used in its new position.
