Going from a room that has little, to no video tech infrastructure can often seem like a daunting and expensive task. Thankfully as the need has grown for video systems, there have also been new products released to make it much easier for anyone to step into a full video setup without biting the bullet on budget. The Springs Church, here in Colorado, decided it was time to add a compact streaming setup to a room that was previously offline. They were looking for just such a system; one that would not break the bank or be overwhelming to learn. This new video install not only allowed them to livestream and capture footage from this room but provided more flexibility during events. With the new release of the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO this year, we knew that was the obvious way to go for The Springs Church. The ATEM Mini Extreme ISO provided the necessary routing, recording, and streaming abilities all in one place. Pound for pound, this switcher is one of the most feature-packed switchers out there! With a little programming and practice, the sky is the limit on what you can create. To start them off, we sent the Program Output to the livestream and fed their in-room projectors with one of the Extreme’s Aux Outputs. The camera we selected for this project was the Pocket 6k from Blackmagic. This camera has fantastic abilities in low light, has Blackmagic’s new color science, and integrates natively with the Extreme Iso, allowing for full internal camera control. This meant even more camera control options for the church to utilize to create an awesome video experience! The Pocket 6k was also paired with two Tilta Nucleus Nanos wireless motors to add control of zoom and focus of the lens. This also gave them the capability to have a camera operator for a tight follow on a speaker or to leave the camera on a static wide shot.
Don’t get the wrong idea here though, just because something is easy to use doesn’t mean it lacks capabilities. One thing that is always exciting about a good piece of equipment is knowing that you have not maxed out its capabilities. And that is the case with the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO.
