When to Update to the Latest Equipment

It's New and Fancy, but is it Right For You?

Last week we looked at knowing when it’s time to replace your equipment or if you could “hold it together” with a repair or a patched in new part. This week we wanted to take a different look at updating equipment. How do you know when you should update your equipment with the latest and greatest?

This line of thought is much like when you are considering to update your phone to the most recent model that just came out. You know it’s out, fancy and new, everyone is talking about it and everything in you is screaming, “I want one too! I want to be like the cool kids!” We all want to have the newest tech on the street, but sometimes it’s a hard decision to make when we have limited funds and our outdated equipment is still working. So, how do you know when to go for it and get that new piece of tech and when to wait?
There are a few options you can consider when making your decision. First, of course, is to ask if you really have the budget for it. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and ask for a quote for all the new things, but often we need to requote businesses for less equipment because they forgot to consider their budget when asking for all the new toys. That’s why we ask what your estimated budget will be when you request a Site Spec. We want to help you accomplish the changes you need in your system and we can do this by helping you get the best equipment available within your budget, without having to skimp on some parts because there’s more than one brand new item on your list.
Another thing to consider is if the new item can help you do more with the system you already have set up. If the fancy new features have no usable impact on the equipment you already have, then you should know, you might have to pay more to upgrade several items to get the best use out of the first one you purchased.
If you just aren’t sure what to do, you can call Lambda at any time and ask any questions you might have about the benefit of upgrading the latest item. Sometimes we even have items in our shop that we can demo for you. If something new comes out, you can be assured Lambda will be trying a demo to learn everything about it. We can point you in the right direction about an upgrade without wasting your time through a quoting process or a budget meeting at your business.
Let us help you get that new tech by making sure it's the right choice for your business and your customers!
